Canfield, Judson, 1759-1840
Lawyer, of Sharon, Conn.; graduate of Yale, 1782; purchased land in the Western Reserve; state legislator, associate judge, farmer, and landowner. Died in New York City in 1840. Canfield's son, Henry Judson Canfield married Sally Ruth Ferris, daughter of Walter Ferriss and Sarah (Sally) Morgan Ferris. Walter Ferriss, whose papers are also included in the collection, was a farmer who later became a Universalist minister in Charlotte, Vt.
