Missionary and Bible translator; born Laura Isabelle Barr, 1914, with nickname "Belle"; attended Bible Institute of Pennsylvania (1932-1933), Columbia Bible College, South Carolina (1933-1935), Booth Memorial Hospital, New York City (1936-1937); worked in northeast Belgian Congo and West Nile District in Uganda with Africa Inland Mission (1944-1980), involved in Bible translation into the Lugbara language and working among girls and women; died March 15, 2003.
