Middagh, Peter

Peter Middagh, a resident of Hunterdon County in New Jersey, served in the New Jersey Provincial Assembly in the year 1754. In 1760, he acted as paymaster for the New Jersey Regiment. Middagh's grandfather, Aert Middagh (Meddach), emigrated from Heikop, Utrecht Province, the Netherlands in 1661. His father, Jan Aertsen Middagh, was born in 1662, and married Elizabeth Smit on January 4, 1690. In addition to Peter, they had five other children: Dirck, Catherine, Johannes, Cornelius, and Matthew. Middagh was a member of the Reformed Dutch Church at North Branch, New Jersey, now known as the Readington Church in Readington, New Jersey.
