Auerbach, Carl A. (Carl Abraham), 1915-
Variant namesCarl Abraham Auerbach was born on October 2, 1915 in New York City. He earned his B.A. in 1935 from Long Island University and his L.L.B. in 1938 from Harvard Law School. From 1938-1940, he worked as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor. Beginning in 1940, he was attorney and counsel for the Office of Price Admission and from 1943-1946 he was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In 1947, Auerbach accepted a position as associate professor of law at the University of Wisconsin; he was later promoted to professor. He joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota Law School as a professor in 1961. He was appointed as dean in 1973 and resigned in 1979. Since 1985, Auerbach has been the Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law.
