Biographical Note: Ruth J. Stocking Lynch was a scientist and a college teacher.

She was born in 1887, received her B.A. from Goucher College in 1910, and her Ph. D. in Zoology from The Johns Hopkins University in 1915. She taught at several American colleges including Agnes Scott College, Wells College, and the Carnegie Institute of Technology. Later in her career, she was as an instructor at Johns Hopkins (1920-1935), chairman of the Science Department at the Md. State Teachers College (1935-1944) and research associate at UCLA (1944-1957). Mrs. Lynch traveled extensively to Japan, South Africa, Australia, Africa, and the South Pacific. Ruth J. Stocking Lynch died in 1983.
