Poet and novelist known as Mollie or M.E.M. Davis and author of two volumes of poetry and twelve novels, which alternate between Texas and New Orleans settings, and Under Six Flags, a school textbook history of Texas.
Davis married Thomas Edward (T.E.) Davis, who served on the staff of the New Orleans Times and as editor of the Picayune. M.E.M. Davis also was a leader in post-bellum social and literary circles in Houston and New Orleans.
