Charles Ewing, the son of Martha Boyd and James Ewing, was born in 1780 in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He was a lawyer, the Recorder of the City of Trenton, a Commissioner to Revise the Laws of New Jersey, the Director of the Trenton Banking Company, and the Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. He died from cholera in 1832.
Charles Ewing married Eleanor Graeme Armstrong and had two daughters and two sons. Their son James Ewing became a lawyer and the Director of the Trenton Banking Company. James Ewing never married and died in 1869.
