Charles Ewing, jurist, was born in Burlington County, N.J., July 8, 1780, and died in Trenton, N.J., August 5, 1832. He graduated from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) in 1798, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1802, and practiced in Trenton. In 1812 he became a counselor, and from 1824 till his death was chief justice of New Jersey.

Charles Ewing, jurist, was born in Burlington County, N.J., July 8, 1780, and died in Trenton, N.J., August 5, 1832. He graduated from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) in 1798, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1802, and practiced in Trenton. In 1812 he became a counselor, and from 1824 till his death was chief justice of New Jersey. Ewing Township was named after him. His father, James Ewing, was mayor of Trenton from 1797 to 1803.
