Macan, T.T. (Thomas Townley)
Variant namesT.T.Macan was born on 12th September 1910. He was educated at Wellington College and Cambridge University. After participating in an expedition to the Indian Ocean he accepted a post at the Freshwater Biological Association, Windermere. His career there started on 1st October 1935, and apart from war service, lasted until retirement on 31st March 1976.
Macan's first task was to study distribution of closely related species in the family Corixdae but soon commenced work on the nymphs (larvae) of Ephemeroptera
