Thomas Roberts, missionary to the Cherokees in Valley Towns, Cherokee Nation (North Carolina), was head of a team of volunteers recruited from his congregation in Great Valley, Pennsylvania in 1821 to establish a co-educational school for the Cherokees.

Thomas Roberts (1792-1866) was from Conwy in Gwynedd and was postmaster there from 1816 to 1824. He created a family and local history chronicle which was copied by his granddaughter Katherine Webster (1847-1928) who also added entries for the years 1863 to 1870. This copy was transcribed and indexed by Mrs Daphne Webster in October 1987.

Thomas Roberts of Bangor was a scholar and head of the Welsh Department of the Normal College, Bangor. He was also Vice-Principal of the College from 1920 until his retirement in 1949. His main field of research was the work of the bards of the early modern period, and for many years he collected manuscripts and copied manuscripts at the National Library of Wales, the British Library and other repositories. In 1914 he edited Gwaith Dafydd ab Edmwnd and later in 1958 edited Gwaith Tudur Penllyn ac Ieuan ap Tudur Penllyn . He was also co-editor of Cywyddau Dafydd ap Gwilym a'i Gyfoeswyr alongside Sir Ifor Williams in 1935 and Cywyddau Iolo Goch ac Eraill in 1925 and 1937 with Sir Ifor Williams and Henry Lewis.
