Samuel Huntington Hobbs, Sr. (1870-1865) was a leading Sampson County, N.C., farmer and politician. He was active in the North Carolina Growers Association and the National Farmer's Union. He served as Sampson County's Democratic representative in the state senate, 1929-1931. He was the father of rural sociologist Samuel Huntington Hobbs, Jr. (1895-1969).
