Knight was a member of the Stefansson Exploration and Development Company's expedition to Wrangel Island. His diaries, in which he describes his experiences as a member of the expedition, were recovered on the island after his death. The diaries were damaged by Harold Noice, who had led an expedition to Wrangel Island in an attempt to rescue Knight and his companions.
