Congregational minister of Andover, Massachusetts, who took a leave of absence from his New England Parish to spend to spend a portion of the year, 11 Oct. 1832 - 9 May 1833, in South Carolina for the purpose of recovering his health which had been threatened by an attack of consumption [tuberculosis]; during his sojourn, Jackson also served for a short time as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, S.C.
