When the Utah & Northern Railway commenced operation, its lines extended from Ogden, Utah, in the south, through Logan, Utah, and to Franklin, Idaho, in the North. Over the next five years, the company extended their line north to Garrison, Montana, where it joined the Northern Pacific Railroad.
