Public Relations Foundation of Texas
The Public Relations Foundation of Texas (PRFT) is a non-profit organization for professional communicators, which fosters career development, communications and public relations education, and training programs. As part of the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA), the organization acts as a central repository for all information relevant to the communication profession by gathering and disseminating materials among colleagues and members. The PRFT financially assists the development of seminars, symposia, an internship program, leadership conference scholarships, and traveling programs for professionals outside Texas’ major cities.
Founded in 1954, the TPRA remains the only Texas-wide organization for the public relations, advertising, and marketing fields. The association fosters career development through webinars, seminars, and conferences; promotes communication through a network of professional communicators; and provides a code of ethics for members and formal accreditation for educational programs. Additionally, the TPRA bestows the Silver Spur Awards on exceptional public relations programs in the fields of community relations, corporate identity, crisis communication, external and internal relations, marketing, media relations and social media, multicultural and partnership campaigns, nonprofit public relations, public affairs and government relations, and special events. The Best of Texas Awards honor individuals and groups for essays, speeches, publications, projects, and presentations given by communications professionals and students.
