During the early 1960s, the Office of the Director's structure included the Director and Staff in Division 10, Deputy Director and Staff in Division 11 and Assistant Director for Business Administration and Staff in Division 13. During the late 1960s the Director's Office was reorganized and moved to Section 100, with William H. Pickering as Director. The new arrangement still required an Assistant to the Drector and the Deputy Director's Office was moved to Section 110. Finally, in the early 1970s the structure was rearranged again. Once the new Administration Building was completed the Office of the Director was moved to Building 180, Section 100, with Director, Deputy Director, Executive Assistant to the Director and Special Assistant to the Director, Vickie L. Melikan.
