Gertrude Dixon Enfield (died 1969) of Laguna Beach, Calif., was a faculty member of the University of Southern California interested in the Houston family of North Carolina. Enfield wrote her master's thesis and wrote several books on the topic including the novel, The Courageous Houstons, 1951.
