James Gilliam Kilbourne, planter, jurist, Louisiana legislator, Confederate captain, and member of the law firm Fuqua and Kilbourne, was born in Hinds County, Miss. He moved to East Feliciana Parish, La., in 1838, attended Centenary College in Jackson, La., married Almena Leonora Perkins in 1851, and had ten children. The Kilbourne family resided in Clinton, La., at their residence Bonnie Burn.

James Gilliam Kilbourne, planter, jurist, Louisiana legislator, Confederate captain, and member of the law firm Fuqua and Kilbourne, was born in Hinds County, Mississippi, moved to East Feliciana Parish in 1838, attended Centenary College in Jackson, Louisiana, and married Almena Leonora Perkins in 1851.
They had ten children: Mary Octavia (1852-1881), James (1854-1924), Charles (1856-1937), Henry Gilliam (1858-1888), Lewis Perkins (1860-1912), Emma (b.1862), Susan Gilliam (1864-1913), Lillian (1868-1949). James became a doctor, Charles a teacher, newspaper editor, and jurist, Lewis a pharmacist, and Mary a teacher.
