Sergardi, Lodovico, 1660-1726
Variant namesBorn in Sienna, Sergardi became an eminent satirist and poet. His Satires on Philodemus is said to have first appeared in 1694, with new editions in 1696, 1698, and 1700. It is judged the best of his works, one of the purest imitations of Horace's style.
