Adams Family

The Adams family descended from John Adams of England who emigrated to Maryland where he died in 1741. Randolph Greenfield Adams (1892-1951) was Director of the William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan. He and his wife, Helen Spiller Adams, had two sons: Thomas Randolph Adams (1921- ), Professor Emeritus of Bibliography at Brown University and former Librarian of the John Carter Brown Library at Brown University, and Richard Newbold Adams (1924- ), a specialist in Latin American affairs.
