A.P. Morgan was a pioneer in the botany of the Miami River Valley. While his interests included flowering plants, as noted by his Flora of the Miami Valley, Ohio, his special interest was in fungi. It was Morgan that interested C.G. Lloyd in the study of fungi, and he encouraged and worked with Lloyd until his death in 1906.
