Frederick Coachefer Redfern was a native of England; graduate of University of Rochester (N.Y.); ordained Baptist minister, 1889; awarded doctorate, 1907, from Providence University; appointed, 1914, as dean and professor of economics and history, Benedict College, an historically black institution affiliated with the Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C.
