Woman's Republic.
In 1912, Edward Gardner Lewis proposed the creation of a Woman's Republic, where women would learn principles of good government in preparation for responsibilities of full citizenship. Land was purchased in San Obispo County, Calif., in 1913, but the project never materialized.
