Cyrus Shepard was a Methodist missionary who accompanied Jason Lee to the Willamette Valley in 1834. Shepard taught school at the Willamette Mission until his death in 1840.

Cyrus Shepard was selected by the Board of Foreign Missions of the Methodist Episcopal Church to accompany Rev. Jason Lee to Oregon where he taught school in Vancouver and worked in the Willamette mission.

Reverend Cyrus Shepard, pioneer Methodist missionary, was born on August 14, 1798 in Phillipston, Massachusetts. In 1834, Shepard accompanied Jason Lee on an overland passage to Oregon in order to establish an Indian mission. After teaching a year at Fort Vancouver, he rejoined Lee at the Willamette Mission and served as a missionary teacher. He married Susan Downing in 1837, shortly after her arrival with the second group of Methodist missionaries on board the ship Lausanne. Cyrus Shepard died in 1840 near Salem.
