Jenkins, the oldest of five children, was born on April 13, 1983 to Larry Stuart and Leslie Thompson Jenkins in Provo, Utah. After a brief move to Dallas, Texas where he father completed his doctorate, Jenkins and her family returned to their native state, moving to Bountiful, Utah. Jenkins attended Hannah Holbrook Elementary School, followed by Valley View Elementary where she was enrolled in Satellite, a program for gifted children. Jenkins graduated from Viewmont High School in June of 2001 and entered Brigham Young University Fall 2001 with Sophomore class standing. Jenkins then began work on an undergraduate degree in English, with a minor in editing. In Spring 2002 she participated in the Theatre in London Study Abroad program, bringing much experience home with her when she returned to BYU Fall 2002.
