Hide Profile

A federally funded research laboratory founded in 1947. Operated by Associated Universities, Inc., sponsored by nine northeastern universities under a contract with the United States Department of Energy, the Laboratory conducts research in high energy physics, basic energy sciences, nuclear energy, nuclear and medium energy physics and chemistry, and basic life sciences, including biology and medical use and effects of radiation, radioisotopes, and other nuclear tools. Environmental and energy research emphasizes energy systems analysis, new energy technologies and energy conservation, and reactor safety analyses and safeguards.
