Dr. Jonathan Potts was appointed surgeon to the Continental Army during the Revolution, serving in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York; he also served as purveyor general to the Middle Department of the Army. Samuel Morris was a merchant who served as captain of the Philadelphia Troop of Light Horse during in the Revolutionary War, and later as a member of the Pennsylvania Assembly.
