Hide Profile

The Colorado State Federation of Labor (CSFL), organized in convention in Pueblo, Colorado, in May 1896, produced the first genuine measure of labor unity in the state. The CSFL did not affiliate with the American Federation of Labor until 1905 and produced the first labor contract in Colorado, on June 18, 1896, as the representative of coal miners mainly in Boulder and Weld counties. When the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) merged in the 1950's, the CSFL became a major element in the Colorado Labor Council (CLC). The CLC, AFL-CIO, came into being on May 26, 1956.
