  • 1929: A.B. degree, Howard University.
  • 1932: LL.B. degree, Howard University.
  • 1933: Admitted to the District of Columbia Bar; the Bar of the United States Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia; the Bar of the United States District Court, 4th District; the Bar of the Municipal Court of the District of Columbia; and the United States Supreme Court.
  • 1933 - 1942 : Engaged in private practice, primarily criminal and probate law and domestic relations.
  • 1935 - 1936 : Harvard University Graduate School of Law.
  • 1938 - 1942 : Member of Draft Board #13, Washington, D.C.
  • 1942 - 1945 : American Red Cross (Task Force); served in the South- west Pacific Area (Australia and New Guinea) and also with the M.T.O. (Italy and Corsica), as Club and Field Director.
