Andrew, Henry O., 1874-1949.
Henry Orestes Andrew was born in Boulder on 23 November 1874, and died in 1949. His parents arrived in Boulder in 1870 from southwestern Pennsylvania, after a short stay in Illinois. His father served as a county commissioner in Boulder County. Henry Andrew attended the White Rock country school, and then the Boulder public schools. He was graduated from the State Preparatory school - now Boulder High - in 1892.
The University of Colorado awarded Andrew a bachelor of arts in 1896 and a bachelor of law in 1899. Andrew married Bertha M. Thompson in 1906. They had one daughter, Mrs. Herman (Jean) Freudenberg. A well-respected attorney with law offices at the Masonic Temple building at 13th and Pearl, Mr. Andrew served as City Attorney of Boulder and later served four years in the Colorado State Senate. He was a prominent member of several Masonic lodges.
Henry Andrew was president of the Boulder Territorial Pioneers for several years, and wrote many biographies of early Boulder area pioneer families.

In 1904-1905, the Moffat Lakes Resort Company developed a recreation area at the hot springs on South Boulder Creek, west of the town of Marshall, Colo. Frank Fowler was the company's president; his son Jack operated the resort from 1927 until the early 1960s. The company constructed a large hotel, a swimming pool, a dance pavilion, a number of rental cottages, and a series of stairways leading to scenic picnic spots along South Boulder Canyon.
By 1906, Eldorado Springs was known throughout Colorado as a fine place to vacation. Rates were nominal, and the resort was easily accessible by train on the Denver and Interurban Electric Line. One of the most exciting events each summer was the daring highwire walk across the canyon by circus performer Ivy Baldwin, who first walked across the gorge in 1907.
