Sickels, Thomas Norwood, 1839-1923.
Thomas N. Sickels was a Chicago editor when he joined the Chicago Mercantile Battery in August 1862. He was stationed primarily in Louisiana. In 1864 he resigned and joined the 10th U.S. Colored Heavy Artillery as a 1st lieutenant. His brother Edward Sickels, then an Old School Presbyterian minister in Dixon, Illinois, married Caroline P. Dunham in early 1863.
