Marilyn Jeanne Barnes, daughter of Wayland H. Barnes and Virginia E. (Laumann) Barnes, was born October 3, 1927 in St. Peter, Minnesota. As a teenager she contracted tuberculosis and, in 1943, was admitted to Ah-Gwah-Ching state tuberculosis sanatorium. She was discharged from the facility in 1946 and returned to St. Peter. She later married William Robertz and is referred to by her married name in some of the materials.
