Participated in the establishment of NATO, 1949-1952. Re-assigned to Army General Staff, 1953-1955. Assistant Division Commander, 7th Infantry Division Korea, 1956. Assistant Division Commander, 1st Cavalry Division in Japan, 1957. Re-assigned to the Army General Staff and Joint Staff, 1958-1960. Assistant Division Commander, 4th Armored Division, 1961. Chief, Office of Military History from 1962 until retirement in 1970.
