Cleveland, Ohio sculptor particularly well-known for his heroic reliefs and doors. McVey taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art and many of his publicly owned pieces are located in Cleveland, as well as across the U.S.

William M. McVey (1905-1995) was a sculptor who studied at Rice Institute in Houston and the Cleveland Institute of Art. After serving in World War II he returned to the Cleveland Institute of Art to head the Sculpture Department there. A highly regarded sculptor and teacher in Texas and nationally, he created the stone frieze at the base of the San Jacinto Monument near Houston, the Davy Crockett Memorial in Ozona, the James Bowie Memorial in Texarkana and numerous other works of note on the Rice University campus and at the Houston Museum of Art.
