He has been a frequent speaker in conferences around the world. He is a former pastor of a Quaker congregation that is part of the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church (NWYM) and, as a graduate of George Fox College, Newberg, Oregon, he has chosen to house his papers at the combined archives of the University and the NWYM.
