Sir Kenneth Bailey was born in Melbourne in 1898. He served in the A.I.F., and studied at Oxford University in history, then law, having been appointed Professor of Jurisprudence in 1928 and Professor of Public Law in 1931. In 1946 Sir Kenneth was appointed Solicitor-General, and remained with the Attorney-General's Dept. until 1964. He was Australian High Commissioner to Canada from 1964 until his retirement in 1969.
