Missionary aviator; born E.W. Hatcher on May 9, 1924 (legally changed name to Elias Wesley Hatcher in 1959; nicknamed "Hatch"); served in the Air Force as a pilot and mechanic, 1943-1945; married Doris Gale "Penny" Meeker, 1947; graduated from Wheaton College, 1948; worked with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) as a pilot in Mexico (1949-1961), field director for Mexico (1962-1967), area director for Spanish-speaking Latin America (1968-1969), and overseeing MAF's technical training, evaluation and orientation (1970-1971); died in a training accident in 1971.
