The Chinqua-Penn Plantation House, located near Reidsville in Rockingham County, was a gift to the North Carolina State University System in 1959. In 1986, the care and mainentance was transferred to North Carolina State University. The Office of Finance and Business's Real Estate Office oversaw the management, appraisal, lease agreements, and eventual marketing and sale of the property in 2006.
