Taylor, W. (William), 1765-1836
Variant namesWilliam Taylor was an English man of letters and translator. Born in Norwich, he travelled the continent extensively to perfect his language skills. He developed an enthusiasm for German poetry, and made translations into English of several important works. He was also an editor and reviewer, and published the seminal study, Historic survey of German poetry.
