Marie Hansen Taylor was author Bayard Taylor's second wife. She came from a German family of scholars, and edited some of her husband's works; she also published several books of her own, including memoirs and a cookbook.

She collected recipes with her daughter in anticipation of doing a cookbook. The plan was to include with the recipes a bit about their history. Their daughter, Lillian, married Dr. Otto Theobold Kiliani.
