Hide Profile

Hey was born in England and came to Baltimore in 1816. He then went to Dedham, Mass. to start a small worsted mill. He soon after returned to the Philadelphia area, first to Germantown, then to Manayunk where he built a factory to manufacture broad cloth. When this failed financially, he moved to Blockley and then Springfield, Penn. There he began a successful business of spinning worsted and woolen yarns.
