New-York City Temperance Society

The New York City Temperance Society was established during the first quarter of the 19th century as an auxiliary society to the New York State Temperance Society. The primary objective of the New York City Temperance Society was to promote total abstinence from alcoholic beverages. They accomplished their objectives via speeches, publications, membership drives and pressure upon the legislative bodies of New York State.
