Missionary; born in Switzerland, 1933; joined Evangelical Free Church mission, 1961; married Lydia Wire, 1961; became a naturalized U.S. citizen, 1962; taught in a rural mission secondary school, 1962-1964; evacuated prior to 1964 rebellion in Zaire; assigned to work with the Africa Evangelical Office to plan 1966 conference to develop a continent-wide association of evangelicals, 1965, from which grew the Association of Evangelicals of Africa and Madagascar in 1966; returned to rural school, 1967-1968; worked with the AEAM, 1968-1985; loaned to World Evangelical Fellowship's Brussels office, 1986. Lydia Christine Wire born, 1927; graduated from Wheaton College, 1948; joined Evangelical Free Church mission to teach in the Belgian Congo, 1950; received additional training for her missionary work at Northwestern University, at a church in Ohio and the University of Brussels; taught or was administrator of mission schools, ca. 1952-1960; received MA in French from Northwestern University, 1961; taught in mission's secondary school, 1962-1964; taught in school for expatriate children, 1970-1985.
