Student and Instructor at the Infantry School, 1924-1930. Assistant Professor of Military Science at Lehigh University, 1930-1935. Promoted to Major, August 1935. Plans and Training Officer, Washington Provisional Brigade, 1936-1939. Commanding Officer, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 1939-1941. Chief of Staff, 38th Infantry Division, 1942-1943.
Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel (1940), Colonel (1941), and Brigadier General (1943). Served as Assistant Division Commander or Commanding General of the 35th Infantry Division (1943), the 78th Infantry Division (1943-1945), the 12th Infantry Division, Philippine Scouts, (1946-1947), and the 6th Infantry Division (1947-1948). Chief, Army Air-Force Troop Information and Education Division, 1948-1949. Chief Army Intelligence Corps, 1949-1951. Chief, U.S. Military Assistance Advisory Group, 1951-1952. Retired 1953.
