Evans, S. C. (Samuel Cary), 1823-1902
Variant namesSamuel Cary Evans was born in Ohio in 1823. He moved to Riverside, California in 1874 at age 51, where he became the city's most powerful and important business man. He served as president of the Riverside Land and Irrigating Company, the Southern California Colony Association, and the Riverside Canal Company. He died on Sept. 9, 1902 at his home in Riverside.
