Biographical Note: J.B. Goodwillie was born ca. 1874 and was a resident of Cleveland, Ohio.

Most likely, Goodwillie was the brother of Mary C. Goodwillie and Harriet (Goodwillie) Hodges who later resided in Baltimore, Md. when their father, Thomas Goodwillie, transferred there from Cleveland. James A. Barnett, an officer in the Civil War, was the grandfather of J.B., Harriet, and Mary C. Goodwillie. J.B. Goodwillie attended the University School in Cleveland and was a member of the football team during the 1890 season. He attended several social events in Cleveland at the turn of the century.
