Born in Toronto, Reginald Watters earned his B.A. (1935) and M.A. (1937) from the University of Toronto and Ph.D. (1941) from the University of Wisconsin. He taught English at the Universities of Washington and Indiana prior to joining the Department of English at the University of British Columbia in 1956. He left the university in 1961 to assume a position at Royal Military College, Kingston. Amongst his numerous publications, Watters edited "British Columbia: A Centennial Anthology" (1958) and "A Checklist of Canadian Literature and Background Materials, 1628-1960" (1959).
