Alexander Forbes was born in Scotland and came to Queensland as a young man. He led a roving life and followed many different occupations. He died and was buried in Toowoomba. See E. Morris Miller, Australian literature from its beginnings to 1935 (Melbourne, Melbourne University Press, 1940).
