Ammannati, Bartolomeo, 1511-1592
Variant namesAfter working in the Veneto and Rome, the Florentine sculptor and architect Bartolomeo Ammannati was called back to Florence in 1555 to serve Cosimo I de' Medici, Duke of Florence. Cosimo and his son Francesco I employed Ammannati as a designer, engineer, architect and sculptor, entrusting him with the management of large-scale projects.
