Born 14 July 1868, the eldest daughter of Sir Hugh Bell, 2nd. Bt. Educated at Queen’s College, London and Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, whence she graduated with 1st class Honours in History in 1887. Attached to Military Intelligence Dept., Cairo, 1915 and liaison officer of Arab Bureau in Iraq, 1916. Oriental Secretary to the High Commissioner, Iraq, 1917-20. Helped set up National Museum, Baghdad. Died Baghdad 12 July 1926.
